Any owner of a small business should know that concentrated focus is among the most important factors in succeeding. Misdirected Focus must be converted to Directed Focus in order for the business to regain traction...
Getting into the routine of practicing focus should definitely start with the habit of saying "no" to the details that get in the way of what really affects the business. Try not letting small distractions become obstacles in the path to business success.

Stress can be an important reason for why distractions can get in the way of what should be topics of focus. Saying "no" to these distractions can greatly reduce stress and provide a clearer view of what's supposed to be paid attention to. 

“Taking on too many tasks and projects can become so daunting. Daunting to the point where small business leadership can be compromised in favor of constantly sorting out emotional chaos.”

Focusing on what can be done will benefit leadership in small business and alleviate the added emotional distraction.

Prioritizing with an emphasis on keeping the most important tasks in line and manageable can make all the difference in where time is invested. Work that contributes most crucially to the business should be where energy is spent. Anything else preventing business from truly progressing should be those very things that are pushed aside.

Make sure you know when tasks must be completed. This can help you decide what you can take under your wing and what should be ignored. Don't allow too many projects provoke unwanted stress that will only make things tougher. The key to business success is bringing what moves the company forward to the forefront, and the deadline can be a determinate for what should be attended to. 

Of course, focus doesn't just come naturally a lot of the time. It develops more effectively from repeated practice. Developing the habit of focusing on good work is something that should be worked on in order to expect growth and progress. Eventually through this practice you can learn and pick up on where your attention and effort should go, that can move the company forward. Gathering the confidence to deny what's only setting you back can only help you progress in the long run and provide more to the backbone of strong leadership.

Never give up when things seem to get tough. Simply learn to prioritize and choose your attention-grabbers wisely and you'll see the benefits gained.
