Past Speaking Engagements

Marvin LeBlanc draws on his Cajun roots and history of overcoming obstacles in the insurance industry to help his audiences overcome their own fears and roadblocks to achieving success in business. He has spoken to entrepreneurs, insurance agents, insurance trainees, and business owners, inspiring them with his stories of coming back after Hurricane Katrina, when his business was completely destroyed.

Marvin uses his own success in the insurance field and his passion for entrepreneurship into his motivational speaking. Those who have heard him speak report a renewed sense of excitement and hope for the future of their own financial endeavors, along with insights into the psychology of selling and the proper attitude necessary to grow a sales-based business. Recent speaking events have occurred in the following areas:

Oklahoma City, Oklahoma

In Oklahoma City, Marvin addressed a group of 45 insurance agents in a speech entitled “From Katrina to Chairman Circle.” He told the group of his experience coming back after Hurricane Katrina completely destroyed his business in St. Bernard parish. His office sat under 12 feet of water, 90 percent of his employees were gone, and he lost 60 percent of his income in just five short days. Yet, from that experience, Marvin was able to return and eventually earn a spot on Chairman Circle.

The speech served to inspire the audience to not only recommit to their business endeavors, but also to their lives, harnessing a renewed enthusiasm for achieving success. The speech targeted the hopelessness that entrepreneurs, like these insurance agents, often feel. Being in business for yourself is quite a lonely experience, and Marvin successfully helped these agents generate excitement for their future and a tenacity to push through overwhelming obstacles to achieve success.

Mobile, Alabama

In Mobile, Marvin LeBlanc had his first opportunity to speak to trainee agents. His speech, entitled “Marvelous Performance Is Always Intentional,” encouraged the trainees to purposefully strive for success. Marvin emphasized that successful performance never occurs by accident, but rather is achieved through sustainable performance over a long period of time. This was a crucial concept for the trainees, who had less than two years of experience in the field.

The speech was quite successful, and Marvin LeBlanc learned that all but one of the agents got their contracts after hearing the speech. In addition to telling his own story of success, Marvin taught about selling techniques and the psychology of landing a successful sale throughout the speech. He also showed the interns how attitude can be the deciding factor in landing a contract.

New Orleans, Louisiana

In New Orleans, Marvin has spoken three times in three very different settings. The first was a presentation for a fencing company at an area hotel. He addressed a group of between 300 and 400 people. This speaking engagement was unique in the fact that it did not deal with insurance, which is Marvin’s primary business field, but was fully focused on inspiring entrepreneurs to succeed in business. In the opening session, Marvin talked about the way in which entrepreneurs must anticipate their next move. They need to be open to changes that will help fuel success.

Marvin was also asked to lead one of his Saturday Blue Jean sessions. This informal speaking engagement was for a training program for insurance agents. Marvin spoke on the steps of the selling process and the need for teamwork within the business, even among independent agents. He also touched on leadership skills and attitudes that needed to be developed to successfully sell insurance products.

Finally, Marvin was invited to speak to a group of 10 to 12 people involved in the mortgage lending industry, including mortgage lenders, homeowners, and service personnel. This speech used an acronym, PAGE, to discuss proper selling techniques. Successful mortgage sellers must have passion for their product, maintain agility to handle changes, be goal-oriented, and pursue further education.
